Our standard residential service uses professional cleaning products — effective and reliable for most households. But for clients who want more control over what goes into their space, we offer a Hypoallergenic / Non-Toxic Cleaning add-on: a service upgrade where we set aside our standard products entirely and clean your home using non-toxic, naturally derived alternatives chosen around your household’s specific needs.
When you add it to your booking, just let us know in the notes what matters most to you — whether that’s avoiding synthetic chemicals altogether, going completely fragrance-free, or keeping things safe for a pet or family member with sensitivities. We’ll also follow up before your appointment to make sure we’ve got it right.

Method All-Purpose Cleaner – Pink Grapefruit — Biodegradable and plant-based, made with citric acid and corn- and coconut-derived cleaning agents. No synthetic chemicals — scented with a natural pink grapefruit fragrance.
Mrs. Meyer’s Rain Water Multi-Surface Concentrate — Plant-derived multi-surface concentrate, effective across a wide range of surfaces. Scented with essential oil-based notes of lily of the valley, bergamot, and cedarwood.
ATTITUDE Disinfectant All-Purpose Cleaner — A plant-based, dermatologically tested disinfectant that eliminates 99.9% of germs. A strong choice for kitchens, bathrooms, and high-touch surfaces. Scented with natural thyme citrus.

When clients book the Hypoallergenic add-on, one of the most useful things they can tell us is where they fall on fragrance.
Synthetic fragrance — the “fragrance” or “parfum” listed on conventional cleaning products — is what our add-on eliminates entirely across the board. These are the ingredients most commonly linked to skin sensitisation, contact dermatitis, and respiratory irritation in people with allergies or chemical sensitivities. None of the products in our non-toxic range contain them.
Essential oil fragrance — present in products like Method, Mrs. Meyer’s, and ATTITUDE — is a different category. These are plant-derived aromatic compounds, and for most households they’re well tolerated. If synthetic chemicals are your primary concern, and natural scents don’t cause issues for anyone in your home, our naturally scented non-toxic products are a great fit.
No fragrance of any kind — including essential oils — is what The Unscented Co. products and vinegar and baking soda provide. This is the right approach if someone in your home has fragrance sensitivity or multiple chemical sensitivities (MCS), if their asthma or allergies are triggered by scent from any source, or if you have cats who may be sensitive to certain essential oil compounds. Just let us know in your booking notes and we’ll bring the right products.

For most pet-owning households, our non-toxic add-on products are a significant upgrade over conventional cleaning products. Plant-based formulas without synthetic chemicals, bleach, or harsh solvents are far gentler on the surfaces your pets walk on, rest on, and in some cases groom off.
For households with cats in particular, it’s worth thinking about fragrance. Cats are sensitive to a range of aromatic compounds, and their livers process certain chemicals differently than dogs or humans. Residue left on floors and surfaces after cleaning can be picked up through paw grooming over time. Certain essential oils — citrus and bergamot in particular, which appear in some of our naturally scented products — are among the compounds most commonly discussed in this context.
If you have a cat with known sensitivities, or you simply want to remove the variable entirely, let us know in your booking notes that you’d prefer strictly fragrance-free products and we’ll use The Unscented Co. range and vinegar and baking soda throughout.

What’s the difference between your standard cleaning and the Hypoallergenic add-on? Our standard service uses professional cleaning products that contain synthetic fragrance. The Hypoallergenic add-on replaces those entirely with non-toxic, plant-based alternatives — free from synthetic chemicals, artificial dyes, and synthetic perfumes. Depending on your needs, we’ll use products that are either naturally scented with essential oils or completely fragrance-free. Just let us know in your booking notes.
Do I need to choose which products you use? No — just tell us what matters for your household in the notes field at checkout, and we’ll follow up to confirm the details before your appointment. If you have a specific sensitivity, a pet with particular needs, or a preference for strictly fragrance-free products, note it and we’ll take care of the rest.
Can I see the product list before I book? Yes. Email info@bluesevencleaning.com and we’ll send you the full list. If you want to check it with a doctor, allergist, or vet first, that’s completely fine.
Is “fragrance-free” the same as “unscented”? No. An unscented product may still contain masking fragrances added to cover the product’s chemical smell. A genuinely fragrance-free product — like The Unscented Co. range — contains no fragrance compounds at all.
Do you use vinegar and baking soda? Yes. We use white vinegar and baking soda throughout our non-toxic cleans wherever they’re the most effective tool. Both are naturally fragrance-free, dye-free, and non-toxic.
