Most cleaning services use the same products in every home without a second thought about what's in them. Our Hypoallergenic / Non-Toxic add-on sets our standard products aside entirely and cleans your home with plant-based alternatives, chosen around your household's needs.
What "non-toxic" means for this add-on
Our standard residential service uses professional cleaning products — effective and reliable for most households. For clients who want more control over what goes into their space, the Hypoallergenic / Non-Toxic add-on swaps those out entirely for non-toxic, naturally derived alternatives.
Add it to your booking and tell us what matters most in the notes — avoiding synthetic chemicals altogether, going completely fragrance-free, or keeping things safe for a pet or family member with sensitivities. We follow up before your appointment to make sure we've got it right.
What "non-toxic" means in practice
- Plant-based & biodegradable — derived from corn, coconut and citrus, not petroleum
- Free from bleach, ammonia & harsh synthetic solvents
- Free from artificial dyes
- Free from synthetic fragrance — "fragrance" on a label can hide dozens of undisclosed compounds
- Gentle enough for homes with children, allergy sufferers, and most pets
We also use white vinegar and baking soda wherever they're the most effective tool — mineral deposits, deodorising, and surfaces where the gentlest approach is the right one.

The Unscented Co.
A Canadian brand formulated with zero added fragrance or dye — naturally derived and biodegradable. Our go-to for clients who need strictly no fragrance of any kind, including the All-Purpose Cleaner and Floor Cleaning Tabs.
Method
Biodegradable and plant-based, made with citric acid and corn- and coconut-derived cleaning agents. No synthetic chemicals — scented with a natural pink grapefruit fragrance.
Mrs. Meyer's
Plant-derived multi-surface concentrate, effective across a wide range of surfaces, with essential-oil notes of lily of the valley, bergamot and cedarwood.
ATTITUDE
A plant-based, dermatologically tested disinfectant that eliminates 99.9% of germs — a strong choice for kitchens, bathrooms and high-touch surfaces, scented with natural thyme citrus.
Fragrance-free or essential-oil scented?
Synthetic fragrance — the "fragrance" or "parfum" listed on conventional cleaning products — is what this add-on eliminates entirely, across every product we use. These are the ingredients most commonly linked to skin sensitisation, contact dermatitis and respiratory irritation.
Essential oil fragrance — present in Method, Mrs. Meyer's and ATTITUDE — is a different category: plant-derived aromatic compounds, well tolerated by most households. If synthetic chemicals are your main concern and natural scents aren't an issue, these are a great fit.

Strictly fragrance-free
No fragrance of any kind — including essential oils. The right choice if someone in your home has fragrance sensitivity, multiple chemical sensitivities, scent-triggered asthma or allergies, or you have a cat who may be sensitive to certain essential oil compounds. We'll use The Unscented Co. range plus vinegar and baking soda throughout.
Essential-oil scented
Non-toxic and plant-based with a light, natural scent. A good fit if you want to avoid synthetic chemicals but don't need to avoid natural fragrance too.
Pet-safe cleaning
For most pet-owning households, our non-toxic products are a significant upgrade over conventional cleaning products — plant-based formulas without synthetic chemicals, bleach or harsh solvents are gentler on the surfaces your pets walk on, rest on, and sometimes groom off.
For households with cats specifically, fragrance is worth thinking about. Cats process certain aromatic compounds differently than dogs or humans, and residue left on floors can be picked up through paw grooming over time — citrus and bergamot, which appear in some of our naturally scented products, are among the ones most commonly discussed. If you have a cat with known sensitivities, or just want to remove the variable, tell us in your booking notes and we'll use the strictly fragrance-free range throughout.
Mention your pets when you book — our team already takes care around food bowls, water dishes and pet bedding as standard practice, and the add-on extends that same care to the products themselves.

- Eczema, psoriasis, contact dermatitis or sensitive skin that reacts to product residue
- Young children in regular contact with floors and low surfaces

In the booking notes: strictly fragrance-free, essential oils are fine, sensitive cat at home — whatever's relevant. We'll follow up to confirm before your appointment.

Non-toxic cleaning FAQs
What's the difference between your standard cleaning and the Non-Toxic add-on?
Our standard service uses professional cleaning products that contain synthetic fragrance. The add-on replaces those entirely with non-toxic, plant-based alternatives — free from synthetic chemicals, artificial dyes and synthetic perfume. We'll use products that are either naturally scented with essential oils or completely fragrance-free, depending on what you tell us in your booking notes.
Do I need to choose the exact products you use?
No — just tell us what matters for your household in the notes field at checkout and we'll follow up to confirm before your appointment. A specific sensitivity, a pet with particular needs, or a preference for strictly fragrance-free products are all useful to flag.
Can I see the product list before I book?
Yes — email us and we'll send the full list. If you'd like to check it with a doctor, allergist or vet first, that's completely fine.
Is "fragrance-free" the same as "unscented"?
No. An "unscented" product can still contain masking fragrance added to cover the product's own chemical smell. A genuinely fragrance-free product — like The Unscented Co. range — contains no fragrance compounds at all.
Do you use vinegar and baking soda?
Yes, throughout our non-toxic cleans wherever they're the most effective tool. Both are naturally fragrance-free, dye-free and non-toxic.
Can I supply my own products?
You're welcome to — leave them accessible and note it in your booking. We're also happy to talk through specific product requests; just reach out first.
Is the add-on available for commercial bookings?
Currently it's offered on residential bookings. If you manage a commercial space with specific product requirements — a medical office, childcare facility, or workplace with staff who have sensitivities — contact us directly to discuss.
Does the add-on apply to the whole home?
Yes. We use the same product approach throughout the entire booking to avoid cross-contact and give you a consistent result.
